Why??

It's amazing how you never get anything done when you have to rely on the dependability and effectiveness of an entire institution. It's even worse when it's supposed to be one that has it's fingers on the pulse of things pertaining to it. Why is it that files just go MISSING??? It's not supposed to happen ever, not at the HC!!! Ma nou ja, shit happens.

Sandman be gone!!!

It's the middle of the damn morning and I can't keep my eyes open! Ridiculous! Sandman be gone! I guess I really do need more than 6 hours sleep a night. Guess my age is creeping up on me.

The waking of the phoenix

And again, MONTHS have passed without a single post. I truly need to get more in sync with my own random thoughts and then release them. As an update, the last time I posted, I was single, very single. And then barely 2 months after that post I found him, the elusive one. I found him after basically giving up on the idea of ever finding him. Guess the old adage is true - once you stop searching, love will find you when the time is right. Sad fact though - it's a distance thing at the moment, which comes with various facets of insanity. I take my hat off to anyone who manages a long distance relationship without insanity and tears. But love conquers all right? Well, it better.

It's over

And the long weekend has reached its end. Tomorrow it's back to the grindstone, and I am seriously not in the mood. But hey, gotta see the bright side and that is that it's only a four day week! Happy day.
One more thing - it totally sucks when your heart and head are not in sync. My head's telling me on thing, the most logical sensible path to walk. And for a while I'm totally fine with that path. And then suddenly a catalyst appears and my heart screams something else, and it creates massive confusion. I want the confusion to go away!!!!!! Can I please have some clarity? Because this doesn't seem like an easy out anymore.
Oh well, off to bed.

Playtime is over

And all the kiddies have left and the exhaustion is setting in. Thank God there's no clean up to be done. The time is right for a movie, peace and quiet. The only foreseeable issue for myself is that I haven't had ample time to play my own game. That's what happens when segregation at social events are the order of the day - males to the one side, females to the other. I wish for integration!!

Playing!!

With bated breath we await the arrival of screaming, running jumping toddlers. And they won't be the only ones playing today!! Let the games begin!

Adulthood

How do you know that you're truly an adult?? No, it doesn't happen on your 21st birthday. It doesn't even truly happen when your friends are getting married around you. And it doesn't even truly sink in when you're having the worst hangover of your life. No, it truly happens when you're at a birthday party of a 6 year old as friend of the mom and the birthday girl calls you Aunty. That's when you realise that you have moved onto territory that you once thought was exclusive to your parents and teachers. Well, I might be an adult now, but that sure as hell doesn't mean that I'm all "grown up". Happy birthday Shinay:-)

Fabulous!!

Now...I've been to Texas. Lived in Houston for almost a year. And I swear, the best steaks in the world are still in the little country of Namibia, and in the even more little town of Gobabis, nicknamed ironically, Little Texas!!! it's like eating the supple thigh of an angel that fell through from heaven and landed in the kitchen of the Dam Resort!!!!! Yay for a fantastic fillet. And even more yay for sharing it with awesome people!!!!! Night y'all

Big dream!!!

Well, currently speaking anyway. There's a possibility that I might actually be part of the legal team at Desert Star Studios! I might be working in film. My head is spinning. I can see it already. It would be so awesome. So now the focus is on the next big dream!!!

Wow

I just realised that the last time I actually utilized this tool, I was not single. And the big irony of that is that not long after it all fell falt and blue up in my face. Ain't life grand???

It's been so long

I can't believe a year has passed since being able to do this. So much great things and so many crap things have happened in the past 12 months, and another transition awaits. The irony is that it was the watching of The Social Network that reminded me that I actually have a blog of my own. The bigger irony. I might be moving to a place and situation which have the side effect of many more entries. Hell, I might even pick up a few followers. Right now, I'm just glad I went a whole day without crying. Possibly moving to the bush. FML

It's my party!

The weekend is over and we're back to the grindstone. However, before we strat with the mandaneness that is Monday morning (thank God I've had a cup of coffee already) let's quickly discuss the weekend and the insanity that went along with it. Friday I drove 200km to attend a quarter century birthday party that I was truly looking forward to, and I was not dissapointed. The hostess went out of her way to create an awesome event. Unfortunately, it appeared that there were some who did not appreciate the effort as much as I did, and she noticed. So, by about midnight, instead of having a rave, for her, in her head the tune of "It's my party" was playing. I'm sorry my friend, wish you had a better time.
Secondly, on Saturday I attended and partook in a funday, a mini sportsday of note, running around in the sun after a hectic part with only about 2 hours of sleep under my belt. Very fun, although in the beginning not very funny. But nevertheless, at the end of the day I felt great and I had an awesome time.
And then Sunday was gloriously lazy!!! All and all, a great weekend!

It's been so long!!

Finally I have access to the World Wide Web again! After weeks of contending with a PC with no Internet connection, I now once again have an opportunity to rant and rave, regardless of the numbers paying attention to my rantings. I love the fact that I am back, since I'm doing this for me. Loving it!

Since the last time that I have posted anything, I must admit that I have no complaints. Life has been pretty sweet - new friends, a serious romantic interest and even work has not been bad. Unfortunately some things have been left on the back burner, like my weightloss and fitness plans. I SO wanted to slim down for the upcoming nuptials of a very good friend, but I've been lazy. Went walking one day last week. Did enjoy it, but it seemed as if life got in the way. I must resist life getting in the way of me becoming fab and fit again!! Regardless, I feel great these days, which of course is a blessing.

Now to return to the order of the day, which is the mini hurricane that hit my town yesterday. I was in Houston when Hurricane Ike hit, and I slept through it like a baby. Not the wind nor the rain woke me. The next morning I saw destruction all around me, months later the devestation could still be seen in Galvaston. Yesterday however, I experienced a storm, which in all aspects could not rival Ike, but it eas devestating all the same, watching the hail come down with the force of God, the wind blowing as if te's purpose was to rip every tree from the ground and have roofs fall on taxi's, and that's what happened, well, not every tree was ripped out, but many were, and quite a few roofs have blown off the buildings they were supposed to protect from the elements. Brick walls were pushed to the ground and there were car accidents. It's the talk of the town, and probably will be for the next week - small towns are like that.

The next order of business is the fact that the weekend is upon us in less than 24 hours, and the plan is to exercise my right to P-A-R-T-Y!!!! WHY? CAUSE I GOTTA! Especially taking into consideration that I've been a good little girl for over a month now. And for anyone that knows me, that's a dang long time. So, pack in your party hats and pop the bubbly!!! We need to celebrate the gloriousness of life. And Audrey's birthday :-)

Till next time.

Suggestions for harmonious partying

After this past generally legendary weekend, I have realised that there are still people that cannot conduct themselves to generally accepted codes of behaviour, or slightly more diplomatically put - suggestions for harmious living, or even harmonious partying. So, I am taking it upon myself to put a few out into cyberspace in the fatal hope that they might be followed by others.

SHL 1: When going to a party, do not show up empty handed, even if the only thing you contribute is a plate of snacks or a six pack of beer. It's just good manners.

SHL 2: When invited to a party and the time given is 7, please do your best to rock up at said time. If circumstances out of your control prevents you from arriving in a timous manner, please inform the host of said circumstances in a timely fashion. This will prevent that she suffers from "Nobody likes me" anxiety.

SHL 3: Should you be invited to said party in an indirect manner, i.e. by a friend of the host that is already invited, please greet the host as you enter. No one likes it when someone just makes themselves at home in your house and you haveno idea who the hell they are.

SHL 4: Never, ever, ever develop a case of sticky fingers whilst at someone else's house. And if you should have developed this condition and were caught, you should especially never create drama or kick up a fuss. Simply bow your head and try to dissapear as quietly as possible. DO NOT RUIN THE PARTY FOR EVERYBODY ELSE INVOLVED.

SHL 5: It never hurts to ask the host if there's something you could help with. Chances are good that he or she will tell you to sit on your ass and relax and enjoy yourself, but the thought will be appreciated and a return engagement will definitely be coming your way.

SHL 6: Should you want to bring other people to the party that were not invited by the host, please ask the host beforehand if this is okay, especially if all parties involved do not know each other. Also ensure that these people have accommodating personalities that will not clash. The last thing you want is to have the jost be uncomfortable at his or her own party.

Well, I think that should about cover it. It doesn't take much to have a n awesome party, but it also doesn't take much to ruin a supposed happy occasion for everyone. It actually jaust takes one ass. Let's all try to not be asses! Till next time.

It's here!!!

The weekend has arrived! And the glory of it all - it's a long weekend!! No blue Monday for me next week. Glorious! Now, the past week I have realised soething about myself - I love being in a relationship! Nothing's official yet, no questions have been popped, but I love spending time with someone who seemingly adores me. I know that I'm awesome, but having it verified by someone else is always good for the heart and soul. Best of all, I'm expecting some much loved visitors this weekend, and what I'm looking forward to the most is that I can show off this little gem that I have found. LOVE it! This is gonna be a fantastic day and a glorious weekend.

Who ever said life is fair??

So, woke up this morning feeling like a million bucks. Possible love interest on the horizon, got into a shirt I haven't been able to wear for over a year, live in a great house with pool, the weather is wonderful and generally I had a song in my heart when I got to the office because in addition to all the other wonderful aspects of the day, today is a breathing day at work as well. Then of course Murphy had to come along and mess up everything. Karma is a bitch and of course the wheel never turns the way you expect it to. Now I need to move out of my little mansion and who knows what kind of living arrangements lie in my immediate future. At least my utilities bill will be much less. Who ever said life was fair??

Insanity

I've just finished the most insane working day of my life. I cannot remember a more hectic day involving more running around. The cool thing about it is realising that I do perform pretty well under pressure. In addition, the day went pretty quickly, I can hardly believe that it's past five and that I can go home now. Now the only questin remains - what will I have for dinner? Will I give in to this pendng feeling of exhaustion, and make myself a quick sandwich, or will I treat myself a little and cook a delicious meal, since I know I can. If I do cook, I'm thinking of a lambstew with a fresh green salad and perhaps a warm pasta salad as well. I'll see once I reach home. :-) For the time being, I'm signing out.

Thank you for small miracles

It's amazing how one's general attitude towards things changes if a certain aspect, which has created a semi-comfort zone, is no longer present. Suddenly you're lethargic, and tired and simply not in the mood to deal with the BS of the day to day workings of your life. Then, one day, miraculously, that one little facet returns and it's as if the sun is returning from beyond the clouds.

And no, I am SO not talking about any type of romantic involvement. I'm talking about my job! When one works with idiots and these idiots dominate the space that you're supposed to be build a career in, it is nice to have someone of your intellectual caliber with whom decent communications can take place.

Once the intellectual equal, or even sometimes superior, goes away and the idiots take over, it leads to a complete lack of personal motivation to actually stay at the office for the full required 8 hours. Of course my sense of dedication is off, what the hell was expected. But now, I've got a silver lining again. Thank heavens for small miracles. :-)

The wonders of the human ego

Yes!! I am convinced that the human ego will be the down fall of mankind. Or at least, give an egotistical bastard enough rope and he'll hang himself with it! At the same time, a HEALTHY ego can be a catalyst to many wonderful things, such as convincing another, who is not too sure of themselves, that it6's perfectly okay to jump in the lake and that you will be there to guide them. The sad thing of course is when they do jump into the lake the fisrt time, you paddle alongside them and then afterwards they're own ego has expanded to such a degree that now they feel that they can swim on their own, and you're left out on the beach, looking at the horizon and wondering what the hell happened. I don't wanna be on the damn beach!!!!!

The first of the ramblings

So...I've made the monumental decision, well, in my mind at least, to post my extremely random thoughts to the world wide web. Lord only knows who will actually follow my ramblings, but others have gotten famous for doing less. I mean, look at the top ten "celebrities" of the day. Which of them actually have any true talent in any field, in any way sense or form?? So, since I am of the opinion that I am smart, capable, sometimes funny and, in the words of Barney Stinson, generally awesome, I thought it would only be benefitial, even if only to myself, to allow the greater world out there into the random ramblings of my mind. Thus, welcome!!
